

The Peoples Democratic Party’s Powers To Discipline Any Erring Member was reaffirmed on Thursday by Hon Justice Valentine B. Ashi of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
According to statement issued by Kola Ologbodiyan, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, he said matter with suit No:FCT/HC/ 0303/2017 between PDP vs Senator Buruji Kashamu, Chief Makinjuola Ogundipe, Alhaji Adewale Adeyanju, Engr Adebayo Dayo & INEC was concluded with the ruling of the court which affirmed the powers of the PDP as provided in its constitution to discipline and punish any erring member who contravenes any of the provisions of her constitution.
Ologbodiyan noted that the party through the erstwhile National Caretaker Committee (NCC) in November 2017 in the wake of growing indiscipline and recalcitrances of Senator Buruji Kashamu, Chief Makinjuola Ogundipe , Alhaji Adewale Adeyanju, Engr Adebayo Dayo & INEC issued an Originating Summons against them praying the court amongst others to declare that the party has powers to discipline and punish them or any member who disobeys the party decision or embarks on acts inimical to the interest of the party or capable of bringing the party to disrepute or ridicule.
The court followed the Supreme Court decision in PDP vs Sheriff which reaffirmed the supremacy of the party over all members and the responsibility and duty of members to obey all decisions of the party or quit, Ologbodiyan said.
